Benefits of Using Digital Freezer Thermometers:
Ensure your fridge and/or freezer is at the correct temperature to
prevent food spoilage, mold growth, and preserve the life and
quality of your food. Place the thermometer inside the
fridge/freezer to read the temperature in the desired location. Or
place on the outside with the magnetic attachment and use the probe
to measure the temperature of the fridge or freezer. This option
allows you to switch between room temperature and fridge or freezer
temperature at the touch of a button.
Bacteria grow most rapidly in
the “Danger Zone” —temperatures between 40° F and 140° F, so it's
key to keep foods out of this temperature range. Cold temperatures
keep most bacteria from growing and multiplying so refrigerate foods
quickly.
Rules for Food Handling:
1. Refrigerate or freeze
perishables, prepared foods, and leftovers within 2 hours or less.
Marinate foods in the refrigerator.
2. Never defrost food at room
temperature. Thaw food in the refrigerator, in cold water, or in the
microwave if you'll be cooking it immediately.
3. Separate large amounts of
leftovers into small, shallow containers for quicker cooling in the
refrigerator.
4. Don't over-stuff the
refrigerator. Cold air must circulate to keep food safe.
It is recommended to maintain
your refrigerator temperature at 40 degrees F or lower to reduce
bacterial growth. To prevent bacterial growth in the freezer,
maintain the temperature at 0 degrees F or lower. FYI – Freezing
does not kill bacteria.
