Aquarium Temperature / Maintenance
Information
Most fish /
invertebrates are cold-blooded and will maintain the
same body temperature as their environment. It is
extremely important to maintain a constant
temperature in your fish tank. Sudden changes in
temperature or not maintaining the appropriate
aquarium temperature can affect fish in the
following ways:
-
Stress induced
illness
-
Stress induced death
-
Adversely affect the
fishes desire to eat.
It is very
important to always use a thermometer in your fish
tank to ensure you are maintaining a safe and
comfortable environment for the fish. Most
tropical fish should be kept in temperatures ranging
from 75˚ F to 80˚ F (24˚ C to 27˚ C). However, this
range depends on the species you choose, so consult
your local pet dealer or a fish encyclopedia for the
temperature requirements of your specific pet. Don’t
have fish in the same tank if they have very
different temperature preferences.
Benefits of Using Digital
Aquarium Thermometers:
Aquarium thermometers are great
sensors to measure the temperature of your fresh or
saltwater aquarium. The aquarium thermometers also
work great with reptile aquariums. These
thermometers are very simple to use. Simply submerge
the probe or the suction cup below the water (or
place on the inside of a reptile cage) and place the
digital display on the outside of the aquarium.
Aquarium
thermometers will help you to keep an ideal water
temperature so you can be sure your pets are
comfortable in right water temperature.
Which
thermometer is best for you?
If you want to view the
thermometer sitting down or from a short distance,
the
103 or
801 aquarium thermometer would be ideal. If you
would rather have a free floating aquarium
thermometer, or a thermometer for hot tubs and
swimming pools then you should choose the
302 aquarium thermometer.
The
302 digital water thermometer also works great
for swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas. |
